Exploring Bali

Fabian and I decided to get away from hectic Kuta and explore Bali. After negotiating way to long about the car rental rate, we were finally on our way Thursday morning. Since traffic here is a bit nasty, we decided to hire the car with a driver. Despite he´s rocking english, our driver is a very nice and enthusiastic guy. This is my first time in Asia, and I must admit that seeing people, temples, rice fields and the tropical areas is quite different than what I´m used to. The highlight of the day was the “firedance” in Ubud.

Ogoh Ogoh

I just check in to my hotel and finish my lunch when I ran in to the Ogoh Ogoh parade in Kuta – Bali. This is a festival held every year, and Ogoh Ogoh is described as “a symbol from devil or criminal atmosphere” This is neutralize by symbolically burn or actually burn the Ogoh-ogoh status / dolls at the end of the parade. It was quite a show, and the main strip was hectic! I also ran in to Chris and his brother, both photographers. I got tips on what to see at Bali, and Chris even invited me to Jakarta! Nice guys.
